Dry Eye Testing

Osmolarity Testing

We will take a sample of the patient’s tears from each eye and use the TearLab device to measure osmolarity (the saltiness of your tears). As osmolarity in your tears increase, ocular surface cells become damaged. Your doctor will need an amount of tear fluid no larger than the period at the end of this sentence. With this detection, the doctor will be able to begin non-invasive procedures for your Dry Eye….Relief is on its way!

This testing provides rapid result! The only in-office test that detects elevated levels of MMP-9. The MMP-9 is an inflammatory marker that is consistently elevated in the tears of patients with dry eye. Quick detection of dry eye and treatment can happen with this new, in-office, non-invasive test.

Detecting the MMP-9 levels on a patient, something that all other tests do not do, will result in a more accurate detection of dry eye and patients that may otherwise be missed by other tests are now finding relief from accurate detection.
